Formed in late 2005, FED has evolved into a powerful alternative rock entity that stands among the most promising of today’s artists. With their captivating melodies and heartfelt lyrics, the band delivers a slick and firm sound distinctive enough to speak for itself.
A love of music brought the four friends in FED together. They released their first EP in 2007 which was followed by a full album in 2008. FED was recognized as brimming with potential. The band soon had the ear of many industry elites, as well as that of a growing fan base.
Front man Jacob Simmons has stated, “FED draws inspiration from many different sources. I think we bring a distinctly different tinge to what’s become somewhat of a crowded genre.”
The band has cited influences ranging from The Police to Nirvana and acknowledges that they owe their inspiration to many artists in various genres. “We all listen to different kinds of music,” says guitarist Alex Neal. “We each bring our own influences to help create our sound.”
2010 was action packed for FED – in addition to playing regular shows they were chosen out of 100,000 acts that auditioned across the nation to perform on NBC’s America’s Got Talent. The show flew them to Las Vegas to compete in the top 100. FED was one of only four bands that were chosen before being eliminated prior to the show’s Hollywood round. Shortly after returning to Dallas, the band traveled to Nashville to record.
“We’ve grown a lot over the few years we’ve been together. I think we’ve carved out a sound that we can call our own and feel proud of what it has become,” says Jacob. FED will release its second full-length album, “How We Are”, summer 2011.
